Music is a universal language. Emotion, connection, and inspiration areevoked from the sounds that wash over you. On six evenings throughout theyear, the PSU Solo & Chamber Music Series brings to campus extraordinaryperformances from renowned and award-winning artists. We are immersed intheir performances and, for an hour or more, we forget about our world and aretransported to a new time and place, while being introduced to new sounds andworks. We invite you for another immersive musical season in McCray Hall’sSharon Kay Dean Recital Hall.
Our season opens in September with a concert by the internationally acclaimedPRISM quartet (saxophones), founded in 1984 by students of renownedsaxophone teacher, Donald Sinta. In October, we will welcome back to campustrombonist Peter Steiner, but this time, he will be sharing the stage withConstanze Hochwartner playing our mighty Fisk organ. In mid-November, wewill hear Baltimore Consort’s program “Crossing into the New World.”Leah Hawkins, soprano will grace us with her angelic voice, a real treat rightbefore Valentine’s Day! In late March, Khemia Ensemble joins us with its unique combination of instruments and voice, performing works in diverse and contemporary styles. The season will conclude in April with cellist Leland Ko performing his program, The Dance that Never Dies.
